Christmas Cookies!

Yes!! It's Christmas time, which is my favorite time of year to make desserts :) Just yesterday I made sugar cookies with a glaze frosting on top. Then I decorated a few with some dragees and sprinkles. Below are some pictures and directions to make these sweet treats =]

For the cookies, I just used a regular sugar cookie mix.

For the glaze, I used a recipe from a magazine called "taste of home Best Loved Cookies & Bars" The recipe calls for 1 & 1/4 cups of confectioners' sugar, 2 teaspoons meringue powder, and 5 teaspoons water (but i used 6). You just stir it all together in that order, and you're done. Be sure to use it then though because if you wait too long it'll harden because it hardens on the cookies after about 4 minutes. You can also dye the frosting different colors by just adding food coloring.

To make these swirly, marble - like cookies, I covered the cookie in one color of frosting, let's say red, and then I just drizzled some green on top and took a toothpick and swirled it together.

I honestly just went with my imagination on decorating these cookies. I had a lot of different sprinkles which helped, and I was also watching The Grinch, which got me in the Christmas spirit. :)
